KIM HOUT SENG

 

Mr. Kim Hout completed a preliminary degree in Forestry and Wildlife Science at Prek Leap National School of Agriculture in 1994, and soon after started working in the Wildlife Protection Office of the
Forestry Administration (Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries). Studying on the weekends at the same school, Kim received a Bachelor's Degree in Forestry and Wildlife Science in December 2004.

 

During his time with the Forestry Administration, Kim has attended a number of national and international workshops related to wildlife and wetlands, conducted many wildlife and wetland surveys in Cambodia, and worked at Tamao Zoological Garden and Wildlife Rescue Center. Kim cooperated directly with the Inventory and Management of Cambodian Wetlands Project, funded by Danida, from 1997 to 2001, and with the Wildlife Conservation Society, from 2001 to 2003, regarding BirdLife International's Important Bird Areas Project in Cambodia.

 

In 2003 kim was seconded to work with the Cambodia Programme Office as a Project Officer, responsible for managing and conserving the Important Bird Areas in southern Cambodia. Through his work, Local Conservation Groups have been established in Boeung Prek Lapouv and Kampong Trach IBAs, southeast of Phnom Penh, and in 2007 Boeung Prek Lapouv IBA was established as a management and conservation area for Sarus Crane, and other birds, by the Royal Government of Cambodia. These projects are part of a cooperative Memorandum of Understanding between BirdLife International and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

 

On July 27, 2006, Kim was appointed as Programme Officer.
